they eat poke food. It's in the anime and in the manga I believe. (and probably berries)

Yea, and I think Pigeot does too. In one of the games it talks about it swooping up Eggecutor. But in the anime Ash and people are always eating sushi. But there are no fish-only Pokemon fish. How does that work?

People apparently nearly ate Farfetch'd to extinction. Most of the time (before the berries) the characters gave pokemon those brown pellets and normal fruit, but I can see bird types eating bug-types.
